Child Abuse Law Heads To SenateCHARLOTTE,NC--A new North Carolina that would require convicted child abusers to register the same way sex offenders do will head to the Senate. The bill known as Kilah's law was unanimously passed by the house Tuesday and would implement longer sentences for child abusers in NC. The legislation was named after Monroe child Kilah Davenport who police say almost died after her stepfather Joshua Houser beat her last year. Houser remains in jail under a million dollar bond. |
