Church Robbed at Gunpoint on New Year's Eve

MONROE, N.C.-- Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Monroe church on New Year's Eve by a masked gunman.

According to police, a man entered the Iglesia de Dios Nueva Vida church on Engleside Street just before 9 p.m. Monday armed with a shotgun.

Witnesses say he pointed the gun at several people, demanding money and purses from all of the women present, before fleeing the scene.

The man was wearing a black mask, black jacket, and a red shirt with brown khaki pants.

Nobody was injured during this incident, which is still under investigation.
