CHARLOTTE,NC--NASCAR fined Denny Hamlin $25,000 Thursday for his remarks in Phoenix about the gen-6 cars.

Hamlin received the fined for stating his opinion to the media about how the new gen-6 cars did not race as well as the generation 5 cars, saying he didn't want to be a "pessimist, but it did not race as good as our generation five cars. This is more like what the generation five was at the beginning."

In a statement released on Twitter, Hamlin wrote that he felt severely disrespected by the fine he received by NASCAR.

At a press conference Hamlin also stated "Ultimately, I'm not OK with it. This is the most upset and angry I've been in a really, really long time about anything ... anything that relates to NASCAR. The truth is what the truth is. I don't believe in this. I'm never going to believe in it. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not going to pay the fine. If they suspend me, they suspend me. I don't care at this point," said Hamlin.

Hamlin says he plans to appeal the fine.
