UPDATE: Details About Shooter & Victims In Harrisburg Shooting
HARRISBURG, NC - Over a 100 people gathered for a prayer vigil in Harrisburg Saturday night to remember two men who were killed in the Windsor Forest neighborhood on Friday.
Cabarrus County deputies say 50-year-old Anthony Hardy killed 64-year old Gary Stocks and 42-year old Daniel Kirchner in Kirchner's backyard.
According to a 9-1-1 call around 4:00p.m. on Friday, Kirchner's wife witnessed the shooting outside while Kirchner's two small children were inside the home.
When deputies arrived to the murder scene, it was believed that Hardy had fled the area. Minutes later, another gunshot rang out from the residence of the shooter. Deputies spent hours negotiating with Hardy. When they heard two more gunshots, they forced their way into his home and found him deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On Saturday, friends and community members revealed more about the shooter and the victims.
Neighbors say Hardy was upset at Stocks and Kirchner who are on the neighborhood homeowner's association. The association decided last week to remove pine trees behind Hardy's home that were blocking power lines.
Neighbors say Hardy, a licensed pharmacist, was a loaner who collected guns and knives.
As for Kirchner and Stocks, neighbors say the two men were family men.
