CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A woman says she found a dog tied up and left on the side of the road.  The dog was found just feet from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Control (CMAC) in southwest Charlotte, and a vet that could have saved its life.

Starla Renee, the woman who discovered the poodle-like dog on Tuesday, wants answers about why the animal was dumped and why its back feet and mouth were bound. A CMAC veterinarian tells us it appears the underweight dog may have also been hit by a car.  The dog's injuries were older and a maggot infestation had set in.

Renee says, "(I) saw his little face peer out and he had his little nose tied with a black shoestring and I went on to open it, took the thing off his mouth and he just kinda looked up, he could barely even hold his head up."

The dog was euthanized because his injuries were too severe.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department at 704-336-7600.  Ask for an Animal Control officer.
