LINCOLNTON, N.C.--More than 25 people are recovering after they became exposed to carbon monoxide during a gas leak Monday night.

The gas leak occurred at RW Garcia Corporation, located off of Progress Drive in Lincolnton.

Employees evacuated the building after some reported feeling sick.

Firefighters discovered high levels of carbon monoxide at the plant. One of the victims currently recovering from the leak is a firefighter.

At least 34 people were exposed to the leak.

Officials said most of the employees left the hospital Monday night. Some, however, are dealing with moderate-to-high levels of carbon monoxide exposures.

Officials have not yet said if they know what caused the gas leak.
