FDA: Lower Sleeping Pill DosesCHARLOTTE, NC--Your sleeping medications might not have the same affect in the near future. The FDA says makers of sleeping pills such as Ambien and others have to start lowering the doses of active ingredient Zolpidem. While the drugs are said to be non habit forming, new studies have shown that lingering effects of the drug could impact your alertness. The FDA wants drug makers to cut doses in half, saying that women may be at more risk because their bodies process the drug slower creating negative side effects the next day.
