CMPD: Fewer Arrests During Uptown NYE Celebration than Last Year

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested fewer people during the uptown 'First Night' celebration than last year.

According to police, no significant events were reported in uptown or the other twelve patrol divisions during Monday night's festivities.

CMPD reports that 20 adults were arrested in the center city area during the event, compared to 31 arrests last year. Of those arrests, nine were for intoxicated and disruptive behavior, five for trespass, two for disorderly conduct, one drug related charge, one for an outstanding warrant, one for an assault, and one for an assault on a police officer, although the officer did not sustain serious injuries.

Police arrested six juveniles compared to 16 last year. Of those arrests, four were for curfew violations and two for trespass.
