Former Catawba College Soccer Coach Faces Additional Charges

CATAWBA, NC -- A former Catawba College Soccer coach faces three additional accounts of indecent liberties with minors. These charges come after Ralph Wager was first arrested in July for indecent liberties with a young boy. According to Rowan County Sheriff's Office, Ralph Wager turned himself into authorities on Thursday around 10:45 a.m.

The crimes in this latest arrest occurred about a year after the crimes that led to Wager’s first arrest.  Ralph Wager was given an additional $150,000 secured bond on these latest charges, but he has since bonded out of the Rowan County Detention Center at this time.

In May 2012, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into allegations that Ralph Wager had inappropriate sexually contact with a child under the age of 10 during the late 1980’s. The allegations occurred while Wager was coaching at Catawba College. During the course of the investigation,  Sheriff’s Investigator were joined by an SBI Agent and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Investigators. Wager is a resident of Charlotte and was formerly employed as a Coach at a Charlotte based Soccer Association. During the course of the investigation, investigators gathered evidence and obtained warrants for the arrest of Wager. 

On July 17, 2012, Wager was arrested at his Charlotte home and brought to Rowan County and charged with three Felony counts of First Degree Sex Offense with a Child, three Felony counts of Crimes Against Nature, and three counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child. Wager was placed in Rowan County Detention Center.
