Helicopter Crashes Into Ocean At Oak Island

OAK ISLAND, N.C.-- Investigators say a failed landing attempt was the cause of the helicopter crash at Oak Island.


The two-passenger helicopter fell from 600 feet and crashed into the ocean off Oak Island. Reports say the pilot was attempting an autorotation, a technique that is used when the engine fails.


The helicopter crashed just a few hundred yards offshore. Both the pilot and the passenger were alright.
