Highway Patrol Investigating Suspicious Body On I-85 SBKANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- Highway Patrol and first responders in Cabarrus County are investigating what happened to a suspicious body on the side of the highway that shut down I-85 Southbound lanes. Highway Patrol, Cabarrus County EMS, Cabarrus County Sheriff and Fire Department are investigating a body on the side of the road on I-85 SB near exit 63, Lane Street, in Kannapolis. Around 7:30am someone said they thought they saw a deer carcass. Later, around 12:30 p.m., another person saw something they said "just did not seem right." At closer look they determined it was parts of a body. Injuries were so bad they can not determine if its a man or woman. A trooper with Highway Patrol said this happened sometime overnight before 7:30 a.m. It is unclear if the person jumped off a bridge or was struck by a vehicle. Lanes have been shut down since 12:30 p.m. |
