PINEVILLE, N.C.-- A historic site in Mecklenburg County could become temporarily extinct from the budget battle in Raleigh.

State Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz toured the President James K. Polk home site Tuesday.

Governor Pat McCrory's proposed budget cuts funding for the site, which would be closed temporarily for at least two years.
