FORT MILL, S.C.-- A homeless man is behind bars after police say he was stealing items from Goodwill trailers.

Richard Dennis was arrested Tuesday night and charged with petit larceny less than $2,000.

According to police, Dennis was spotted parked between two Goodwill trailers along Gold Hill Road. When officers approached his truck, they could see in plain view various items in the bed of the truck.

Dennis claimed that employees from Goodwill said he could take items left outside the trailers after closing, though he denied taking anything that night.

Goodwill stated that if a vehicle removing items from the property is not a Goodwill Trailer/Truck and does not have a Goodwill identification, they are in violation and committing larceny. If they are not in a Goodwill Truck but do have identification, they are probably in violation and committing larceny.

Dennis is being held at the York County Detention Center on a $470 bond.
