Inmate Jumps To His Death At Rowan County Detention CenterROWAN COUNTY, N.C.--An inmate jumped to his death at the Rowan County Detention Center. Officials say Richard Cooley pleaded guilty to several charges including driving while impaired and possession of a firearm by a felon on Friday. He was being held at the Rowan County Detention Center until the State Department of Corrections could pick him up to serve his year in prison. The sheriff says surveillance video shows he landed on his head after jumping from the second floor of the detention center. |
