CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A cancer breakthrough is happening in Charlotte.  The Levine Cancer Center is testing a two-in-one therapy for people with late-stage breast cancer called TDM-1.

Experimental tests show it stops cancer cell division...even shrinks tumors without chemo's side effects.  It combines a common drug with a new cancer killing agent. THE FDA has been testing the therapy since 2010. 

On Tuesday protesters rallied outside the International Biotechnology Meeting in Boston saying the FDA is dragging its feet when the drug could be saving lives.
