StreetcarCHARLOTTE,NC--Governor Pat McCrory forces his way into the debate on whether a light-rail extension or streetcar should be built on Elizabeth Ave. According to a memo sent by city staff to mayor and council, the Governor reportedly said millions of in state funds for the blue line are at risk if the city builds a streetcar using property tax money. For McCrory's threat to come true, NC Department of Transportation would have to renege on a binding grant agreement with the city signed last year. |
