Man on the Edge: Ban Teen Tanning? It may be a cold and rainy February day in Charlotte, but it's always summer under the sizzling glow of your nearest tanning bed. But for high school kids in North Carolina, that little luxury may be coming to an end. Lawmakers in Raleigh are considering a bill that would take tanning rights away from both teens and their parents. Right now, kids between 14 and 17 are allowed to tan with a parent's permission. But a House health committee is hearing testimony about tanning bed concerns, such as skin cancers, and could advance a bill that would take away a parent's right to let their teens use tanning beds. Of course, you don't need a tanning bed to get a tan. They just make it so darn easy. Easy to tan up quick... and easy to go overboard. So what do you think? Should the government totally ban tanning for kids under 18? |
