Mislabeled Fish In Restaurants and Grocery StoresThe fish you buy at the grocery store or order in a restaurant may not be what you think it is. A new study by the nonprofit group Oceana finds 33% of seafood is not what its labeled. The study used DNA testing on more than 12,000 samples that found snapper and tuna were the most mislabeled. People are said to be getting rockfish and tilapia in the place of these fish. A seafood salesman says price is a clue something may be wrong. The Food and Drug Administration recently invested in new technology so it can use DNA sampling to quickly identify seafood species.
