Monroe Couple Accused of Manufacturing Meth Lab

MONROE, NC -- Two Monroe residents face several charges after police say they found an active meth lab at their home. According to Monroe Police Department, on Tuesday around 8 p.m., officers went to Round Table Road, the residence of James Robinette Jr. and Eva Robinette to conduct a warrantless search when they discovered the lab.

The scene was immediately secured to limit any further exposure to dangerous chemicals, and surrounding apartments were evacuated.

Today, around 1:00 p.m., the SBI arrived on the scene and proceeded to dismantle the active meth lab.  As of 4:00 p.m., the SBI was still processing the scene. 

James Edward Robinette, Jr., and Eva Marie Rankin Robinette, 35, were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of precursor chemical, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Both are being held at the Union County Jail.  Bonds have not been set at this time.
