Mooresville Man Charged in Child Sex Crimes

MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- A 70-year old man is in custody for the child sex crimes he is accused of committing almost 11 years ago.

On January 2, 2013, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office received a report of possible child sexual abuse from an 18-year old woman.

According to the report, the abuse began when the victim was around the age of 7 years old and continued until she was 12 years old.

George Walker, 70, of Stutts Road in Mooresville, had access to the child as her babysitter at the time of the abuse. Not only did the abuse occur at the suspect's residence, but also at locations in Huntersville and Cornelius.

Detectives obtained warrants for two counts 2 counts of First Degree Sex Offense and 2 counts of Indecent Liberties against Walker for the incidents that occurred in Mooresville.  Walker was arrested on February 12, 2013 and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and placed under a $250,000 bond.

Huntersville Police Department and Cornelius Police Department have also obtained charges against Walker for the crimes that occurred in their jurisdiction.
