Mudslide Closes Avery County Highway For Weeks

AVERY COUNTY, N.C.--Mudslides have caused officials in Avery County to close a stretch of road for several weeks. 

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has closed portions of NC-194 from Blevins Creek to US-19 East.  Detours have been set up for motorists. 

The mudslides also destroyed two homes and several vehicles.  No one was injured.
