HUNTERSVILLE,NC--Parents and students from Hopewell High School in Huntersville say a CMS punishment is too harsh.

At least 10 students were suspended from the high school after reportedly tweeting during a lock down drill Friday morning.

A CMS spokesperson said the students were warned not to use their cell phones because it could jeopardize security.

One of the alleged tweeters is now suspended for five days and cant play on her soccer team.

According to the CMS code of student conduct, all cellphones must be turned off during school hours and a spokesperson says punishment given is up to the principal.
