CHARLOTTE, NC- A sinkhole at a major intersection in Myers Park adds to the list of Charlotte roads - falling apart!

"We definitely haven't dealt with anything like this in recent years," said Jen Thompson, NCDOT communications officer.

On Friday, someone spotted pavement sinking about four inches at the intersection of Providence Road and Queens Road.

Thompson blames all of our recent rain for a number of road closures in several local counties - all at once.

"We find it amazing as well. It seems like every day there's a new area where we have a new problem,” said Thompson.

Crews have closed the left lane in both directions at the Myers Park intersection. NCDOT says they will remain closed throughout the weekend.

"Down to one lane on both sides is probably going to be a big headache. Especially for several days,” said Stephanie Smith, a South Charlotte resident.

A time frame for repairs has not been determined.
