New Section Of I-485 Opens

CHARLOTTE,NC--Construction on the last stretch of the I-485 road project is in the final stages.

Wednesday contractors are opening the segment of Ridge Road that extends south of Beard Road to Mallard Creek Road.

Many drivers expect traffic delays to get worse as crews connect the new segment of road to the existing roadways.

The DOT expects the project to ease traffic congestion and say engineers estimate the project will wrap up next year.
