CHARLOTTE, N.C.--The snow storm blasting the northeast is impacting people in Charlotte.  Thousands of travel plans are on hold.

Flights to and from New York and New Jersey are grounded.  Major airlines began making cancellations around the country Wednesday afternoon to get ahead of the storm.

Some passengers on the way to Charlotte barely missed the confusion.  If you are flying to the northeast, check ahead to make sure your flight's not cancelled.

Airlines, including Delta and Jet Blue, are asking passengers to volunteer to reschedule their flights free of charge.
