COVINGTON, KY (FOX19)--A former Ben Gal and teacher appeared in court to answer to charges that she had inappropriate contact with a student.

Sarah Jones and her mother, Cheryl Jones, both appeared in the Kenton County court a little before 9:00 Monday morning to plead not guilty to all charges.

According to court documents, the alleged incident happened back in November of 2011 when Sarah Jones was a teacher at Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood.

Cheryl Jones, the principal at Twenhofel Middle School in Independence, was also indicted for Tampering with Evidence.

Both Jones and her mother turned themselves in to the Kenton County Detention Center on Thursday before bonding out a few hours later.

Sarah Jones is out on a $50,000 cash bond and Cheryl Jones is out on a $30,000 cash bond.

At the hearing, the judge reduced their bonds to $15,000 a piece.

At Monday's hearing, the judge ordered that Sarah and Cheryl couldn't have contact with the alleged victim.

The judge also required that text messaging be disabled on both women's cell phones.

However, Jones' current attorney, Charlie Lester, said the family of the alleged victim was present in the courtroom in support of Sarah and Cheryl Jones. FOX19 Legal Analyst Mike Allen says that could play a role if this case goes to trial.

"It makes it a lot more difficult for the prosecutor, when the victim's family is supporting the defendant," said Allen. "It does happen in cases, domestic violence cases are a good example. It to does make it more difficult but not impossible though."

The trial date was set for 6/27/2012.
