CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested a suspect accused of breaking into a residence while the owner was home.

Marc Robert Kirkpatrick, 27, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of stolen property and driving while license revoked.

According to police, Kirkpatrick rang the doorbell of a home on Emerald Cove Drive around 9 a.m. Thursday. When the door was not answered right away, police say Kirkpatrick went around back and forced his way in while the homeowner was there.

Officers located Kirkpatrick during a traffic stop where the homeowner positively identified him after fleeing the home with stolen property.

Kirkpatrick is being held at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. Additional charges are pending.
