CHARLOTTE, NC-- Charlotte Mecklenburg Police beef up security at Charlotte-Douglas International.

CMPD say they will be adding to the amount of officers patrolling security checkpoints, fences and parking lots around the airport.

Airport officials say the security update wasn't because of a specific incident but due to a number of problems over the past few years.

Travelers say they appreciatte the added officers and are told it will not mean longer lines at security checkpoints.
