CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police have identified the man that was killed after his Nissan Pathfinder ran off the road. According to authorities, on Sunday around 7:26 a.m., fire officials called in a vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 277 at the exit ramp for Graham Street. Upon approaching the scene, fire crews noticed a downed utility pole. While analyzing the scene, a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder was then located in front of a vacant building.

Officers say a male body was found lying next to the vehicle. Police have identified the victim as Tyjuan Collins. Police believe the Pathfinder was traveling on the inner loop of I-277 and ran off the right side of the road near the Graham Street exit. Speed was a factor in the accident according to authorities. The Nissan struck the utility pole and then rolled over several times down an embankment. Collins was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
