Police Make Arrests in Dog Fighting, Drugs Ring

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested two men accused of being involved in a drug trafficking and dog fighting operation.

Daran Dejuan Goines, 30, and Cyril Joseph Baldeagle, 30, were arrested Thursday after a search warrant revealed shocking discoveries. In addition to finding several guns, ten pounds of marijuana and over $68,000 in cash, 14 pit bulls and one pit bull carcass.

Goines was charged with dog fighting and baiting, trafficking marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the sale of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Baldeagle was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon.

The surviving pit-bulls were removed from the home and are being evaluated at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control.
