Police Release Cause Of Death In Maggie Daniels Murder Investigation

NEWTON, N.C. -- Police in Newton say Maggie Daniels was strangled to death.  Daniels was found dead inside her apartment on June 28th.  

Sharman Odom has been charged with first degree murder in the case.  He had his first court appearance Monday morning.  

Police also unsealed a search warrant from the case.  Police believe there was a struggle between Daniels and Odom, according to the warrant.  

Odom is also accused of having scratches on his face and a patch of hair missing in the days after Daniels was found dead.  If convicted, Odom could face the death penalty or life in prison.
