Police Search for Driver, Vehicle Involved in Hit and RunCHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are searching for the driver of an SUV that struck and injured a pedestrian in East Charlotte Sunday night. According to police, just before 7 p.m. an SUV struck a pedestrian crossing Albermarle Road near Sharon Amity Road. Witnesses say the driver turned around and passed the crash scene before fleeing. The SUV is described as a red or burgundy, box style Jeep with damage to the front end. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
