Police Search for Suspect in East Charlotte Hit and RunCHARLOTTE, NC -- Police are still looking for information after a pedestrian crossing the street in east Charlotte was severely injured. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, it happened on Sunday night right before 7 p.m. on Albemarle Road. The vehicle was traveling inbound when the victim was struck and thrown to the ground in the roadway. The vehicle continued inbound and made a u-turn before it reached Sharon Amity Road. Authorities then say the vehicle traveled past the crash scene continued toward the intersections of Redman Rd. and Central Ave. Witnesses describe the suspect vehicle as a red or burgundy SUV and it could possibly be a box style Jeep Cherokee. This vehicle has damage to the front end and was leaking fluid when it left the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Anyone with information about this hit and run crash is asked to call the Major Crash Investigation Unit or Crime Stoppers. |
