Police: Woman Killed in Wheelchair Crossing the Street

KANNAPOLIS, N.C.-- Police in Kannapolis are investigating a wreck where a car hit a woman crossing the road in her motorized wheelchair.

Dee Christy Shuping, 60, was crossing North Cannon Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. Sunday when a car hit and killed her, according to police.

Police say that speed and alcohol were not factors in this crash, and that charges likely will not be filed against the driver.
