One Company Is Helping Others Pay It ForwardCHARLOTTE, N.C.- Have you ever had one idea or a dream to do something great for the community? Well, there's one organization whose mission is to make sure you reach your goal. Charles Thomas is Executive Director of Queen City Forward. He says the goal is to make a positive impact in the community, "We work with non profits and for profit entrepreneurs who are socially conscious. Meaning they're working to do good in the community while building a business." Matt Shaw says Queen City Forward helped spread the word about his non-profit, Speak Up Magazine, "It's kind of amazing that there's an organization that exists solely to encourage and support and to help big hearted organizations." Thomas says instead of giving a hand out. They focus on giving a hand up, by taking your ideas and turning them into into business models, "What queen city forward is really good at is connecting them to resources that help them to execute in that model. So we have a resource directory and we'll help you find an attorney or an accountant or someone that's good in marketing." Mark Moore says his business, Mana Nutrition benefited from Queen City Forward when he moved to Charlotte, "Queen city forward is huge opportunity I think for Charlotte to grab a hold of those kernels of creativity and ingenuity and entrepreneurship and to say don't leave stay right here. Make this happen in Charlotte." Duke Energy, Fifth-Third Bank, tTe Foundation For The Carolinas and private donors helped launch Queen City Forward in February.
