Race Fans Hit by Debris at zMax Drawgway
CONCORD, N.C. -- An engine explosion caused debris to fly into the grandstands Saturday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Speedway informed us that Funny Car driver Robert Hight's Ford Mustang suffered an engine explosion near the finish line during the second round of Funny Car qualifying. The carbon fiber body blew off the chassis and sent it high into the air.
The body of the funny car landed in a walkway in front of the eastside grandstand.
