Rough Roads Costing Local Drivers Big Bucks

CHARLOTTE, NC- Rough roads across Charlotte are making a dent in driver's wallets.

Potholes and uneven pavement are causing major wear and tear.

TRIP: A National Transportation Research Group reports that 17 percent of roads in the Charlotte region are in poor condition, 27 percent are in mediocre condition and 17 percent are in fair condition.

A TRIP spokeperson says motorists are spending an additional $378 annually for driving on rough pavement conditions.

According to AAA Carolinas, North Carolina motorists spend $1.555 billion per year in vehicle repairs  because of rough road condition, which is about $241 per motorist.
