Scene Cleared of Suspicious Package Near Hospital

by WCCB Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say a suspicious package found near a hospital is no danger to the public.

Just before 5:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the 1900 block of Randolph Road, near Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, when a suspicious package was found outside unattended.

CMPD's bomb squad and Charlotte Fire Department shut down part of Randolph Road. Captain Rob Brisley of CFD told WCCNB that one emergency room had to be shut down during the incident.

After two hours on the scene, CMPD cleared the scene and determined that the item did not contain anything to jeopardize public safety.
