Second Homicide Suspect Turns Himself In

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police say the second suspect involved in the first homicide of the New Year is behind bars. Anthonio "Tony" Farrar, turned himself in to authorities early Sunday morning. Dontae Leverne Torrance, was arrested on January 2, for his involvement in the death of Benjamin Sky McDaniel.

According to authorities, on January 1, 2013, officers responded to an assault call on Goldfields Road in east Charlotte around 7:38 p.m. Upon arrival, two males were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Police identified the victims as Benjamin McDaniel and Jerik Simmons. They both were transported to Carolinas Medical Center. McDaniel was pronounced deceased a short while later.

During the investigation, detectives found that the victims and suspects knew each other and that they were conducting a drug transaction.

Detectives have charged Torrance with Murder, Attempted Murder, Conspiracy, and Obtaining Property by False Pretense. There is no word yet on Farrar's charges.
