CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A winter storm warning has been issued for the Charlotte area and is expected to last until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Today: Snow likely before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 36. East northeast wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tonight:
A chance of snow, mainly after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday:
Snow, mainly after 8am. High near 29. Northeast wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Wednesday Night Snow and sleet, becoming all snow after midnight. Low around 28. North wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Thursday:
A chance of rain and snow before 1pm, then a slight chance of rain between 1pm and 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. North wind 7 to 11 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
