South Piedmont Community College serves Anson and Union counties after being chartered by the N.C. General Assembly in 1999. Its two campuses are the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe and the L.L. Polk Campus in Polkton. SPCC offers a variety of programs that meet many different community needs.

The School of Arts and Sciences provides students a chance to earn an associate degree and, if they wish, transfer to a four-year institution, all while staying at home and paying much less than they would at a four-year school.

The School of Applied Science and Technology offers career-related technical degrees, diplomas and certificates that may be completed in two years or less. Adult Basic Skills offers classes for those needing a GED or Adult High School diploma, for speakers of other languages learning English (ESOL), and compensatory education classes for adults who have been diagnosed with developmental disabilities. SPCC also works with local industries to provide customized training for their employees.

For information about specific programs, call the college at 704-290-5100 in Union County or 704-272-5300 in Anson County or visit SPCC’s programs page.
