State Senate Discusses New Rules for Abortion

by Casie Kolbinsky

RALEIGH, N.C.--The North Carolina Senate debated new rules for abortion Tuesday night in Raleigh.

Republicans introduced a bill that would require abortion clinics to meet higher operating standards. The bill would also call for doctors to be present during the procedures and would prohibit abortions based on the gender of the fetus.

Planned Parenthood said the bill could potentially shut down abortion clinics across the state.
