The Belk Bowl
Charlotte, NC - Rain or shine, it's time for the Belk bowl. University of Cincinnati fan Eric McCafferty says, “We've been to the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl and this seems to be right up there with both of them." For Duke University Cornerback Ross Cockrell, who played at Charlotte Latin, playing in the Belk Bowl is a homecoming. It's a week of firsts for him, not the least of which, is playing in a bowl game. He says, “Going to the speedway and riding the Nascars, that was a lot of fun. I had never even been to the speedway before." His counterpart with the Cincinnati Bearcats has played in the big money BCS bowls. But Cameron Cheatam says, among his friends playing at other schools the Belk Bowl is considered a prime game. “The shopping spree, that was the number one thing. He said, you're going to love the shopping spree, he was right too." But apart from the pomp and circumstance of it all, players from each team say, they're most focused on ending the season with a win.
