The Cheesecake Factory's 3,000 Calorie Pasta DishCHARLOTTE, NC--The Center for Science in the Public Interest did a recent article on extreme eating in America. The article focused on high calorie food dishes served in Americas restaurant chains. It highlighted meals such as Cheesecake Factory's Bistro shrimp pasta (3,120 calories), Johnny Rockets Bacon Cheddar Double (1,980 calories), and even Smoothie King's Peanut Power Plus Grape Smoothie (1,460 calories). One of the most shocking discoveries is how Cheesecake Factory managed to cram 3,000 calories and 89 grams of saturated fat into one pasta dish consisting of a butter-cream sauce and fried shrimp. "It's as if IHOP, The Cheesecake Factory, Maggiano's Little Italy, and other major restaurant chains are scientifically engineering these extreme meals with the express purpose of promoting obesity, diabetes, and heart disease," said CSPI executive director Michael F. Jacobson. "You'd think that the size of their profits depended on their increasing the size of your pants." Thanks to the landmark health care reform signed by President Obama, calorie counts will soon be required on chain restaurants menus. Full list of high calorie restaurants here
