Unloaded Gun Found on Man at South Mecklenburg High SchoolCHARLOTTE, NC -- The smell of marijuana leads to a gun at South Mecklenburg High School. According to a school administrator, on Thursday, a vehicle in the school's car rider line, had a strong odor of marijuana. After approaching the vehicle, he noticed that a passenger in the vehicle had a gun in his waistband. The school's resource officer was contacted immediately. We are told that person was not a Charlotte-Mecklenburg student and the gun was not loaded. The driver of the vehicle said they were on the school's campus to pick up a relative. Police say the 24-year-old passenger with the gun was charged and was very cooperative with authorities. No one was injured at the school.
