Uptown Church Offers 'Ashes to Go' Service
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--A church in Uptown is offering 'Ashes to Go' as a way for busy Christians to make it to an Ash Wednesday service.
St. Peter's Episcopal Church is holding three different 'Ashes to Go' services where ministers will be on the sidewalk in Uptown performing the annual ritual of applying ashes on people's foreheads.
This ancient tradition serves as a reminder to seek repentance during Lent. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of a 40-day liturgical period of prayer and fasting.
