Utah State Trooper Accused Of Making Fake DUI Arrests
SALT LAKE CITY, U.T.-- A Utah state trooper faces a lawsuit for making fake DUI arrests.
Lisa Steed made 400 DUI arrests in a year, setting a state record and earning her special recognition at the state Capitol. Now, many of the people she arrested are coming forward and saying she filed fake DUI reports.
Steed and her former supervisors are currently facing a lawsuit that includes two defendants.
She has allegedly been accused of violating department policies, falsifying police reports and using questionable practices when making DUI arrests. Reports say she charged numerous people without any evidence and told a newspaper that her job was a "numbers game".
Steed has been fired from the Utah Highway Patrol, but her attorney says she denies the allegations and is trying to get her job back.
