York Family Spots Son's Shooter Outside Hospital, Leads to Arrest

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- CMPD has the man responsible for a York, S.C. shooting in custody thanks to the victim's family spotting the suspect outside a Charlotte hospital.

Anthony Lord, 32, was arrested in Charlotte Wednesday, March 20, 2013, after a relative of the victim left the hospital visiting Lord's victim, Demark Mathews, 32. The family member observed Lord walking on S. Tryon Street. 

The relative called Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police who in turn dispatched officers to the location and identified and apprehended Lord. 

Lord is charged with the attempted murder of Matthews, in York, S.C., on Monday night.

The York Police Department responded to the gunshot wounds call. It was then that Matthews told them that Lord had shot him. He was airlifted to Charlotte for treatment. His family told York PD that he is improving, but still remains in the ICU.

Lord has been booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail on a fugitive warrant. York PD has outstanding warrants for Lord’s arrest for Attempted murder, Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and Burglary 1st Degree.
