LAS CRUCES, N.M.--A beauty queen in New Mexico is accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that knocked out power to hundreds of people. 

Police say 22-year-old Sarah Richardson wrecked her PT Cruiser into a light pole, causing it to fall over and hit a traffic light. 

The accident left approximately 1,700 people in the dark.  Richardson is the reigning Miss Las Cruces.

Officials with the Miss New Mexico and Miss America organizations are looking over their policies to see if Richardson will continue to hold her title.
