Retailer Facing Criticism Over Billboard
CULVER CITY, C.A.--Some drivers are saying a billboard located by the interstate near Culver City, Calif., appears to display a photo of Adolf Hitler instead of a teapot.
In reality, the billboard alongside Interstate 405 shows the Michael Graves Design Bells and Whistles Stainless Steel Tea Kettle, a product advertised by the department store J.C. Penny. However, a number of social media users claim the kettle strongly resembles the infamous Nazi leader.
The kettle appears on J.C. Penny's website, as well.
Journalists at the Huffington Post say they emailed the department store Monday to ask more about the ad but that they have not yet received a response.
Meanwhile, many people are turning to social media sites such as Twitter and Reddit to voice their opinions about the ad.
